AB 1482 Summary

• Authorizes the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation to design and construct three Level II dorm facilities adjacent to specified institutions (Folsom, Sacramento, etc.) with up to $810,000,000 in revenue bonds for design, construction, and related costs.

• Revises funding authorization for prison housing and medical/mental health facilities, reducing authorization for subdivision (a) projects to $1,006,369,000 and increasing authorization for subdivision (b) projects to $1,046,579,000.

• Eliminates reentry program facility construction authority under the Public Safety and Offender Rehabilitation Services Act of 2007 and repeals phase II of that act.

• Authorizes up to $500,000,000 in revenue bonds for adult local criminal justice facilities in participating counties, with a minimum 10% county contribution and Board of State and Community Corrections approval.

• Requires closure of the California Rehabilitation Center in Norco by December 31, 2016, or six months after completion of the three Level II dorm facilities, whichever is earlier.
