AB 1707 Summary

• Removes individuals from the Child Abuse Central Index (CACI) after 10 years if they were under 18 years old at the time of the report, listed only once, and received no subsequent reports during that 10-year period.

• Requires automatic removal of individuals from CACI who reach 100 years of age.

• Mandates that agencies notify individuals reported to the CACI in writing of their listing and provide the reporting agency's identity.

• Allows individuals listed on the CACI a hearing before the reporting agency to challenge their listing, with exceptions when court proceedings are pending or have made findings.

• Eliminates the requirement for police departments and sheriff's departments to submit child abuse reports to the Department of Justice (effective January 1, 2012).
