AB 1723 Summary

• Requires the Board of Governors of the California Community Colleges, Trustees of the California State University, and Student Aid Commission to provide live video and audio transmissions of all open public meetings through accessible technology including cable, satellite, or webcast

• Mandates entities post video and audio recordings on their websites for at least 12 months within 48 hours of the initial transmission

• Requests (but does not require) the University of California Regents to comply with the same transmission and archiving requirements

• Requires public notice before meetings identifying which location(s) will have live video transmission when meetings are conducted via teleconference from multiple locations

• Exempts entities from violations if technical failures prevent transmission or archiving, provided the entity exercised reasonable diligence in attempting to comply
