• Authorizes county boards of supervisors to establish voluntary programs that redact names of public safety officials from property records disclosed to the public when those officials request confidentiality.

• Defines eligible public safety officials as current or former employees of law enforcement, judiciary, prosecutors' offices, and corrections agencies, but excludes elected officials such as sheriffs, district attorneys, and city attorneys.

• Requires counties to redact property records including address and legal description when searches are conducted by name index of participating public safety officials.

• Permits counties to charge reasonable fees for program participation and imposes confidentiality requirements on entities purchasing aggregate data, with penalties up to $4,000 and treble damages for violations.

• Protects counties from civil liability for unintentional disclosures if reasonable care is exercised, while allowing disclosures to courts, law enforcement, and other specified governmental agencies.
