Authorizes the State Fire Marshal to accept U.S. Department of Defense firefighter certification as an alternative to California's Firefighter I training and certification standards.

Requires Department of Defense certification to be accompanied by a national certification or accreditation approved by the State Fire Marshal and based on International Fire Service Accreditation Congress, Pro Board, or other accepted third-party standards.

Requires the State Fire Marshal to follow existing verification procedures if Department of Defense certification is not accompanied by an approved national certification.
