Designates May 2012 as Foster Care Month in California

Recognizes California's foster care system, which served approximately 55,000 children daily during 2011 and has the largest foster care population of any state

Acknowledges that 4,000 to 5,000 foster youth age out of the system annually without adoption or permanent family placement, and calls for support systems to help them with housing, education, and employment

Honors the efforts of adoptive and foster families, social workers, local governments, faith-based and community organizations working to improve foster youth lives

Encourages all Californians to participate in efforts to serve foster children and ensure a brighter future for foster youth
