Recognizes July 4, 2012, as the 236th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and celebrates the founding of the United States.

Calls upon all Californians and Americans to gain greater knowledge and understanding of the facts, circumstances, and principles of liberty and equality underlying the Declaration of Independence.

Expresses gratitude and appreciation to all current and former members of the Armed Forces of the United States for their service and sacrifices in protecting freedom and liberty.

Directs the Chief Clerk of the Assembly to distribute copies of the resolution to Assembly members.
