SB 1144 Summary

• Increases penalties for employers who willfully fail to pay final wage judgments: fines of $1,000-$10,000 or up to 6 months jail for amounts of $1,000 or less; $10,000-$20,000 fines or 6 months to 1 year jail for amounts over $1,000.

• Creates exception to requirement that peace officers inform domestic violence victims of their right to make citizen's arrests when the officer makes an arrest for domestic violence battery or corporal injury crimes.

• Removes requirement that Department of Justice include information about SARATSO future violence risk assessment tool on public sex offender registry Internet website.

• Defines "agency" for grand jury conflict-of-interest purposes as a department or operational part of a government entity, requiring grand jurors employed by such agencies within 3 years to recuse from civil investigations of that agency.

• Makes technical and clarifying amendments to provisions regarding controlled substance precursors, laboratory glassware sales, counterfeit marks, parole supervision, and court calendar procedures.
