SB 1203 Summary

• Establishes a $100 reward for any person who reports a driver later convicted of driving under the influence (violations of Vehicle Code sections 23152 or 23153)

• Court must order the convicted driver to pay the reward in addition to any other penalties imposed for the DUI conviction

• Identity of the person reporting the drunk driver is protected from disclosure to the driver or others unless constitutionally required by court determination

• Law enforcement agencies receiving the report must provide the reward recipient's identifying information to the agency responsible for disbursing the reward

• Reward payment only occurs after victim restitution and all fines, penalties, assessments, and forfeitures from the DUI conviction have been paid in full
