SB 1498 Summary

• Authorizes local agency formation commissions to approve cities or districts providing new or existing services outside their jurisdictional boundaries and sphere of influence to support public or private property uses, subject to noticed public hearing and specific determinations.

• Allows commissions to delegate approval of service extension requests to their executive officer under specified circumstances.

• Repeals the prohibition on annexations to cities of territory greater than 10 acres that includes a disadvantaged unincorporated community contiguous to the proposed annexation.

• Makes technical and conforming changes to Government Code Sections 56133 and 56375 regarding service extensions and commission powers.
