Eliminates the requirement for certified nurse-midwives and nurse practitioners to complete at least 6 months of supervised experience before furnishing or ordering drugs and devices.

Authorizes physicians and surgeons to determine the extent of supervision necessary for nurse practitioners and certified nurse-midwives when furnishing or ordering drugs and devices.

Maintains existing requirements that nurse practitioners and certified nurse-midwives complete a pharmacology course and operate under standardized procedures or protocols approved by supervising physicians.

Preserves the limit of one physician supervising no more than four nurse practitioners or certified nurse-midwives at any time.
