Foster children may continue attending their school of origin through court jurisdiction; if jurisdiction ends before school year completion for K-8 students, they may finish the academic year.

High school foster children whose court jurisdiction terminates may continue in their school of origin through graduation.

School districts are not required to provide transportation to former foster children with individualized education programs that don't include transportation as a related service, unless the IEP team determines it necessary.

Each local educational agency must designate an educational liaison for foster children to facilitate proper placement, enrollment, and transfer of records and credits between schools.

New school enrollments for foster children must occur immediately regardless of outstanding fees, fines, or missing documentation such as immunization records or uniforms.
