CA SB505

Authorizes the Department of Fish and Game to contract with privately owned hatcheries to procure up to 20% of fish needed to meet state trout production goals if state hatcheries cannot meet those goals.

Requires private hatcheries to meet compliance standards at least as stringent as state hatcheries regarding operations, management, and monitoring to prevent disease and invasive species spread.

Mandates private hatchery fish costs not exceed the cost per fish of state hatchery production, calculated equivalently.

Requires annual reports to the Legislature beginning July 1, 2012 containing fund revenues, itemized expenditures, total fish planted, and loan information from the Hatchery and Inland Fisheries Fund.
