Alameda County District Attorney's Office and Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department must collect statistical data on arrests or prosecutions involving private information gathered from the Internet used in furtherance of crimes.

Data must be reported electronically to the Department of Justice in two installments: first by July 1, 2013, and second by January 1, 2014.

Department of Justice must publish reported data on its Internet website in a timely manner.

"Private information" includes names, social security numbers, account numbers, passwords, physical descriptions, addresses, phone numbers, education, financial and medical/employment history.

The requirement expires on January 1, 2015, unless extended by later statute enacted before that date.
