Designates September 2012 as Pain Awareness Month in California and calls upon all Californians to participate in activities that improve the quality of life for people suffering from pain.

Designates September 14, 2012, as Women In Pain Awareness Day to raise awareness about gender disparities in pain assessment and treatment in the United States.

Acknowledges that over 100 million Americans live with chronic pain and that most pain remains untreated, undertreated, or improperly treated due to lack of healthcare professional awareness.

Recognizes that women have higher prevalence of chronic pain syndromes than men but receive less aggressive treatment and have their pain reports taken less seriously.

Acknowledges the Partners for Understanding Pain coalition's mission to improve quality of life for Californians with pain through education and advocacy.
