Extends the statute of limitations for filing workers' compensation death benefit claims from 240 weeks to 420 weeks from the date of injury for dependents of deceased firefighters and peace officers, effective only until January 1, 2019.

Applies only to deaths caused by job-related diseases including cancer, tuberculosis, bloodborne infectious diseases, and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus skin infections.

Requires that proceedings still be filed no more than one year after the date of death, even with the extended timeline.

Prohibits death benefit payment under the extended timeline if proceedings were already commenced within the original 240-week period and it was determined no one is entitled to benefits.

Does not apply to claims that were already adjudicated, finalized, or had their filing period expire on or before December 31, 2014.
