Excludes pasteurized in-shell eggs from general shell egg regulations under the Food and Agricultural Code and creates separate requirements under the Sherman Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Law

Requires egg handlers to label pasteurized in-shell eggs with "keep refrigerated," a sell-by date (not exceeding 75 days from pasteurization), Julian pack date, plant identification number, and "pasteurized" identification

Mandates point-of-sale signage advising consumers to refrigerate pasteurized in-shell eggs and prohibits reprocessing of returned pasteurized eggs from retail outlets

Exempts pasteurized in-shell eggs packaged for export from labeling requirements and allows alternative date formats for interstate commerce or military sales

Establishes a state plant identification numbering system for pasteurized in-shell egg handling facilities, administered by the department in consultation with the Shell Egg Advisory Committee
