AB 1642 Summary

• Extends the Pierce's Disease Control Program and Pierce's Disease Management Account provisions from March 1, 2016 to March 1, 2021 (with repeal on January 1, 2022 instead of January 1, 2017)

• Extends the Pierce's Disease and Glassy-winged Sharpshooter Board and annual assessment on grape processors from March 1, 2016 to March 1, 2021

• Maintains the annual assessment on grape processors at up to $3 per $1,000 of assessed grape value for research and programs to combat Pierce's disease

• Requires the Secretary of Food and Agriculture to conduct a referendum among grape producers and processors to determine continued implementation of the assessment program

• Makes an appropriation by continuously authorizing collection and deposit of industry assessments into the Food and Agriculture Fund
