AB 1666 Summary

• Prohibits use of campaign funds to pay restitution fines imposed under Penal Code Section 86 for bribery convictions

• Increases restitution fines for bribery to twice the original amounts: from $4,000-$20,000 to $8,000-$40,000 when no bribe received, and doubles the fine amount when bribe actually received (up to $40,000)

• Creates conditional operative sections coordinating with Assembly Bill 1692 and Senate Bill 831, with different versions of Section 89513 becoming effective depending on which bills are enacted

• Declares no local reimbursement required under California Constitution Article XIII B because changes only relate to crime penalties

• Affirms the bill furthers purposes of the Political Reform Act of 1974
