Amends Penal Code Section 832 to clarify that probation departments certified to provide introductory peace officer training are not required to offer the course to the general public.

Maintains existing requirement that all peace officers complete an introductory training course prescribed by the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training and pass an examination.

Exempts certain peace officers from retraining requirements after breaks in service, including those returning to management positions at the second level of supervision or higher, those continuously employed as peace officers in another state or federally, and those who maintained proficiency by teaching the course.

Authorizes the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training to charge examination fees not to exceed actual costs for applicants not sponsored by law enforcement agencies or employed by state or local agencies.
