Gas corporations must provide at least 3 working days' notice to schools and hospitals before conducting nonemergency excavation or construction of gas pipelines located within 500 feet of the facility.

Notification must include the gas corporation's contact information, specific pipeline location, excavation/construction dates and times, expected completion date, and a phone number for questions about leak response procedures.

Gas corporations must maintain records of all notifications and subsequent contacts with schools and hospitals for at least 5 years from the date of notification, with records available for inspection.

Violations of these notification requirements are treated as violations of the Public Utilities Act and constitute a crime.
