Requires the director of a state hospital or a licensed clinician to obtain state summary criminal history information for patients committed to the State Department of State Hospitals.

Information may be used to assess violence risk, determine appropriate patient placement, support treatment purposes, prepare statutory reports, and evaluate fitness for release.

Law enforcement personnel must provide criminal history information upon request through the California Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (CLETS) in a timely manner.

Requires state summary criminal history information to be removed from the patient's file and destroyed within 30 days of discharge from the state hospital.

Makes it a misdemeanor for authorized personnel who obtain the information to knowingly provide it to unauthorized persons.
