AB 2005 Summary

• Expands California Horse Racing Board membership from 7 to 9 members: 7 public members appointed by the Governor, 1 Senator appointed by the Senate Committee on Rules, and 1 Assembly Member appointed by the Speaker of the Assembly

• Legislative members serve as nonvoting, ex officio members for 2-year terms with no limit on reappointment, and are ineligible to serve on board subcommittees or designate staff to represent them

• Legislative members who fail to attend 3 consecutive board meetings shall be replaced by the appointing authority

• Legislative members are prohibited from receiving per diem ($100 per day) or reimbursement for travel and other expenses for their service on the board

• Public members continue to receive $100 per diem for each day of attendance and reimbursement for travel and other official expenses
