Requires the State Board of Education to consider including age-appropriate sexual abuse and sexual assault awareness and prevention content for kindergarten through grade 12 in the next revision of health content standards, based on recommendations from the Superintendent of Public Instruction.

Requires the State Board of Education to consider including sexual abuse and sexual assault awareness and prevention information in the Health Framework for California Public Schools when next revised, based on recommendations from the Instructional Quality Commission.

Authorizes school districts, county offices of education, and charter schools to provide age-appropriate instruction in sexual abuse and sexual assault awareness and prevention for kindergarten through grade 12.

Allows parents or legal guardians to request in writing that their child be excused from instruction in sexual abuse and sexual assault awareness and prevention.
