Governor designates 3 state agencies to participate in a 2015 pilot program awarding cash prizes up to $25,000 each to innovation contest winners.

Contests open to all California residents who are not state employees and focus on proposals to improve state agency efficiency, economy, or operations.

$75,000 appropriated from General Fund to Governor for allocation to the three designated agencies for prize awards.

Each agency must award prizes by January 1, 2016, based on entries that best address contest subject and have highest likelihood of adoption.

Unawarded or partially awarded prize money reverts to the General Fund.
