Authorizes probation officers and deputy probation officers to carry firearms as determined by the chief probation officer on a case-by-case or unit-by-unit basis under specified terms and conditions.

Requires chief probation officers to develop a policy by June 30, 2015 regarding whether probation officers supervising high-risk caseloads should be armed, with implementation by December 31, 2015, if no arming policy existed prior to January 1, 2015.

Defines "high-risk caseload" as a caseload including individuals released from state prison on postrelease community supervision with prior convictions for serious or violent felonies.

Requires all officers carrying firearms to meet training requirements under Section 832 and qualify with firearms at least quarterly.

Provides that if the Commission on State Mandates determines the bill imposes state-mandated costs, reimbursement to local agencies shall be made pursuant to Government Code Part 7.
