Amends Penal Code Section 3020 to require the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation to include data regarding an inmate's service in the United States military in all inmate assessments.

Military service data becomes part of comprehensive assessments that already include substance abuse history, medical and mental health information, education, family background, criminal activity, and social functioning.

Assessment data must be used to place inmates in programs that aid reentry to society and reduce chances of reoffending.

Became law on July 23, 2014, after passing the Assembly on May 8, 2014 and the Senate on July 3, 2014.
