AB 2404 Summary

• Requires the Department of Justice to disseminate sex offender registration status of applicants when furnishing state summary criminal history information for peace officer employment, certification, criminal justice employment, licensing, child care/facility employment, cable corporation employment, and general employment/licensing/certification purposes.

• Applies to all categories of authorized agencies and organizations that receive criminal history information for employment, licensing, or certification purposes, creating a uniform requirement across multiple statutory provisions.

• Incorporates conditional amendments from AB 1585 that become operative only if both bills are enacted before January 1, 2015, with AB 2404 enacted after AB 1585, allowing the two bills' provisions to work together without conflict.

• Maintains existing requirements for disseminating convictions, pending trial arrests, and other criminal history information while adding sex offender registration status as a mandatory disclosure element.
