CA AB2408

Adds two members to the California Collaborative for Educational Excellence governing board: a charter school representative appointed by the Senate Committee on Rules and a parent of a California public school pupil appointed by the Speaker of the Assembly, expanding the board from 5 to 7 members.

Requires the California Collaborative for Educational Excellence to report to the state board on or before October 15, 2015, with recommendations on methods for evaluating local control and accountability plans and identifying best practices statewide.

Maintains the collaborative's purpose of advising and assisting school districts, county superintendents, and charter schools in achieving goals set forth in local control and accountability plans.

Specifies that the collaborative may be directed to provide assistance when requested by a school entity, when a county superintendent determines it necessary after providing technical assistance, or when the Superintendent determines it necessary.

Incorporates conditional amendments if both this bill and Senate Bill 1248 are enacted before January 1, 2015, with this bill enacted last.
