AB 2548 Summary

• Requires the State Department of Education to periodically conduct studies of the percentages of California public high school graduates estimated to be eligible for admission to the University of California and California State University

• Studies shall be conducted no more frequently than every four years and must be completed within 18 months of funding availability

• Mandates the Department of Education collaborate with UC and CSU to determine each entity's role, avoid duplicating work, and use existing vendors familiar with previous studies

• Addresses the gap created when the California Postsecondary Education Commission ceased operations in 2011, with no eligibility studies conducted since 2007
