AB 2609 Summary

• Permits home brewers and winemakers to remove their products for use in bona fide competitions, judging, exhibitions, or tastings without requiring a license or permit.

• Allows nonprofit organizations that promote home brewing to serve beer at up to 2 fundraising events per calendar year, provided the events include an educational component on beer and are limited to nonprofit members only.

• Requires any home-produced beer or wine served to the public to be provided within a clearly identified area with a physical barrier and monitored entry point, prohibiting commercial manufacturers from selling in that area.

• Maintains existing limits on home production at 100 gallons per year for single-adult households and 200 gallons per year for households with two or more adults.
