AB 264 Summary

• Eliminates requirement that temporary shelter assistance be provided during one consecutive period, instead allowing up to 16 calendar days total (non-consecutive) for homeless families eligible for CalWORKs aid.

• Requires the State Department of Social Services to issue implementation instructions by April 1, 2015, and adopt regulations by July 1, 2016.

• Maintains maximum daily shelter allowance of $65 for families of up to four members and $15 per additional member (up to $125 daily maximum).

• Specifies that no state General Fund appropriation shall be made to implement the bill's provisions.

• Provides that if the Commission on State Mandates determines the bill creates mandated costs, reimbursement to local agencies shall be made through existing statutory procedures.
