AB 269 Summary

• Allows military or overseas voters to have vote-by-mail ballots counted if postmarked by USPS or Military Postal Service Agency on or before election day and received by elections officials no later than 3 days after election day

• Repeals and replaces Section 3117 of the Elections Code to create this exception for military and overseas voters specifically

• Imposes state-mandated local program duties on elections officials to process ballots received up to 3 days after election day

• Requires the state to reimburse local agencies and school districts for costs if the Commission on State Mandates determines reimbursement is warranted
