AB 2746 Summary

• Extends the annual membership fee for active State Bar members at $315 through January 1, 2016 (previously set to expire January 1, 2015)
• Increases the optional charitable contribution amount from $30 to $40 per member for nonprofit legal services to low-income individuals, with members able to opt out
• Requires all funds collected for legal services programs be distributed directly to qualified legal services projects without State Bar deductions for administrative costs
• Allows the State Bar board president elected from a term-expiring member to serve as a 20th board member with voting rights if not reelected to another term
• Requires net proceeds from State Bar real property sales or leases be held without expenditure until approved by the Legislature
