AB 2747 Summary

• Extends vehicle rental service of process requirements for foreign renters from January 1, 2015 to January 1, 2020, allowing rental companies to accept service on behalf of non-resident renters purchasing liability insurance.

• Authorizes tenants to deduct utility payments made to public utility districts from rent, consistent with existing provisions for public utilities and publicly owned utilities.

• Modifies unclaimed property law to extend the waiting period for disposal of unclaimed property with no commercial value from 18 months to 7 years after delivery to the state.
