Violation of the documentation requirement is an infraction punishable by a fine of $250, with the fine imposed only once per person for withholding evidence related to the same person or employer

Prohibits retaliation against employees by employers for providing documentary evidence of suspected animal cruelty, and provides civil and criminal liability protection for those reporting in good faith

Exempts inadvertent capture of images through video surveillance or security systems from the reporting requirement

Defines "animal cruelty" for purposes of this section as acts involving animals or poultry described in specified provisions of the California Penal Code
