Notes that California is the birthplace of the craft brewing movement, starting with Fritz Maytag's acquisition of Anchor Brewing Company in 1965 and Jack McAuliffe's New Albion brewery in Sonoma in 1977.

Highlights that as of 2012, California's craft brewery industry generated $4.7 billion in annual economic impact, supported over 45,000 jobs, and produced more than $850 million in federal, state, and local revenues.

Recognizes that California has more than 440 craft breweries—more than twice Colorado's count—and produces approximately one in every five craft beers made in the United States.

Acknowledges California breweries' international recognition for quality, with consistent success at the World Beer Cup and Great American Beer Festival, and the industry's commitment to sustainable environmental practices.
