Legislature supports protecting existing shellfish beds and expanding access to additional acreage for shellfish farming and restoration in California

Legislature endorses dialogue between industry, environmental organizations, and federal and state agency leaders to develop an improved and more efficient permitting process for shellfish operations

Acknowledges California's opportunity to create jobs and economic growth in coastal communities through sustainable shellfish aquaculture, as state production currently meets less than half of demand

Supports completion and approval of a Marine Aquaculture Programmatic Environmental Impact Report being prepared by the Department of Fish and Wildlife to evaluate environmental impacts of expanded shellfish production

Directs the Chief Clerk of the Assembly to transmit the resolution to the President, Vice President, Speaker of the House, President Pro Tempore of the Senate, and California's Congressional delegation
