Urges the President of the United States to use executive powers to secure the release of Marine Sergeant Andrew Tahmooressi from a Mexican prison.

Tahmooressi is a 25-year-old combat veteran who completed three tours in Afghanistan with the 2nd Battalion, 6th Marines and was honorably discharged with a Meritorious Combat Service Award.

Tahmooressi was arrested at the El Chaparral border inspection area in Mexico after mistakenly entering with three legally acquired firearms in his vehicle and was charged with "weapons trafficking."

States that under Section 1732 of Title 22 of the United States Code, the President has a duty to demand reasons for imprisonment of U.S. citizens by foreign governments and to demand their release if the imprisonment violates their rights.

Directs the Chief Clerk of the Assembly to transmit copies of the resolution to the President, Congress, and the bill author.
