Acknowledges and denounces Proposition 187, approved by California voters in 1994, as a discriminatory and xenophobic measure that harmed immigrant communities.

Recognizes June 23, 2014 as a day to celebrate California's diversity and reflect on the state's troubled history of targeting minorities and immigrants through laws like Prop 187, the Chinese Exclusion Act, and Propositions 14 and 21.

Notes that Proposition 187 would have barred undocumented immigrant children from public schools, required immigration status verification by teachers and doctors, and prohibited public agencies from serving suspected undocumented immigrants.

Acknowledges California's recent progress in protecting immigrant families through passage of the California DREAM Act, the TRUST Act, and the Safe and Responsible Drivers Act.

Resolves that the Legislature will provide for the well-being of all Californians regardless of immigration status, race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or socioeconomic position.
