CA SB1068

Requires the Board of Governors of the California Community Colleges to report to the Legislature by January 1, 2016 on the feasibility of creating an independent accrediting agency for California Community Colleges and two-year private postsecondary institutions for federal Title IV purposes and state financial aid.

Mandates the report include a recommendation on whether California would be best served by using the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) Senior College and University Commission as a single accrediting agency for all California public postsecondary educational institutions.

Requires the report to address the potential for using multiple accrediting agencies to ensure California Community Colleges maintain the highest quality standards.

Report must comply with Government Code Section 9795 requirements for legislative submissions.

Section automatically repeals on January 1, 2020 pursuant to Government Code Section 10231.5.
