SB 1102 Summary

• Modifies reporting requirements for state candidates and committees to file contribution reports with the Secretary of State for contributions of $1,000 or more (increased threshold from previous $100).

• Requires reports of contributions received during an election cycle to be filed within 24 hours of receipt.

• Requires reports of contributions received outside an election cycle to be filed within 5 business days of receipt (reduced from previous 10 business days).

• Applies to candidates for elective state office, committees supporting or opposing state candidates or ballot measures, and committees primarily formed to support or oppose state ballot measures.

• Becomes operative on July 1, 2015 and declares the bill furthers the purposes of the Political Reform Act of 1974.
