Medical Board of California and Osteopathic Medical Board of California shall each charge an additional $25 fee to physicians and surgeons at initial licensure and biennial renewal for the Steven M. Thompson Physician Corps Loan Repayment Program

Both boards must develop a mechanism by July 1, 2015 for licensees to pay voluntary contributions at the time of application for initial licensure or biennial renewal

All collected fees shall be transferred monthly to the Medically Underserved Account for Physicians within the Health Professions Education Fund to support loan repayment for physicians practicing in medically underserved areas

Up to 15 percent of collected funds shall be dedicated to loan assistance for physicians who practice in geriatric care settings or serve adults over 65 years of age or adults with disabilities

Funds shall not be used for the Physician Volunteer Program
