SB 1167 Summary

• Requires property owners infested with rodents to exterminate the rodents and abate conditions causing the infestation, not just eliminate the rodents themselves

• Authorizes the State Department of Public Health, county boards of supervisors, and city governing bodies to abate conditions causing rodent infestations when owners fail to do so

• Requires building enforcement agencies to include abatement of conditions causing infestations in their abatement orders whenever they determine an infestation exists

• Specifies that abatable conditions are those listed in Section 17920.3 that the enforcement agency determines caused the infestation

• Makes the cost of rodent extermination and condition abatement a charge against the county or city where the work is performed
