Requires all general acute care hospitals to adopt and implement an antimicrobial stewardship policy by July 1, 2015, in accordance with federal government and professional organization guidelines.

Mandates hospitals develop a physician-supervised multidisciplinary antimicrobial stewardship committee, subcommittee, or workgroup with at least one physician or pharmacist trained in antimicrobial stewardship.

Requires hospitals to report antimicrobial stewardship program activities to appropriate hospital committees undertaking clinical quality improvement activities.

Establishes that violations of these requirements constitute misdemeanor violations subject to existing health facility enforcement penalties.
