CA SB544

Requires the State Department of Education to apply to the Department of Motor Vehicles to create a specialized license plate program for school safety and violence prevention.

Establishes the School Violence Prevention Fund in the State Treasury to receive fees collected from the sale of specialized license plates.

Allocates fund revenues, upon legislative appropriation, to the State Department of Education for school safety and violence prevention programs established under existing law as of January 1, 2004.

Authorizes the Superintendent of Public Instruction to consult with the Board of State and Community Corrections, State Department of Social Services, and State Department of Public Health on school violence prevention and intervention efforts.
