SB 928 Summary

• Requires the Governor's Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz) to establish and operate an international trade and investment office in Mexico City by January 1, 2016, or create a public-private partnership to do so.

• Mexico City office must facilitate educational exchange programs between California and Mexico, promote export of California goods and services to Mexico, and encourage capital investment from Mexico into California.

• Funding comes from private moneys accepted and administered through the Economic Development and Trade Promotion Account.

• Requires GO-Biz director to include Mexico City office information in annual reports submitted to the Legislature and the Senate Select Committee on California-Mexico Cooperation.

• Makes an appropriation by expanding the continuously appropriated Economic Development and Trade Promotion Account to fund the new office.
