AB 1547 Summary

• Authorizes the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control to issue major event licenses to promoters or organizers of qualifying events, subject to local law enforcement approval

• Defines "major event" as live artistic, musical, sports, food, beverage, or cultural entertainment events expected to draw more than 10,000 people per day at facilities like parks, fairgrounds, auditoriums, or arenas

• Limits major event licenses to three per calendar year, with each license valid for consecutive days for the duration of the event

• Allows major event licensees to contract with on-sale retail licensees holding caterer's permits to sell alcoholic beverages on the event premises, including revenue-sharing arrangements

• Permits beer manufacturers, winegrowers, distilled spirits manufacturers, and their agents to sponsor major events by providing monetary payments or alcoholic beverages in lieu of payment, but prohibits advertising of sponsor identities under certain revenue-sharing arrangements
