AB 1838 Summary

• Establishes infant supplement eligibility for pregnant minors and nonminor dependents receiving AFDC-FC or Kin-GAP benefits for the month of anticipated birth and the three months prior

• Supplement amount equals the rate otherwise paid for care and supervision of a child, intended to meet specialized needs of the pregnant youth and prepare for infant care needs

• Requires verification of pregnancy as a condition of eligibility for the supplement payments

• Contains conditional operative language that coordinates with AB 1997, with Section 1.5 only becoming operative if both bills are enacted by January 1, 2017 and AB 1838 is chaptered last
