AB 1936 Summary

• Extends resident tuition classification to dependents of Armed Forces members who have been admitted to a California public postsecondary institution before the member is transferred out of state or retires from active duty

• Allows dependent children, stepchildren, and spouses to maintain resident classification and resident tuition rates as long as they remain continuously enrolled, even after the sponsoring Armed Forces member leaves California or retires

• Requests the University of California Regents to voluntarily establish the same residency benefits for UC-enrolled students as those required for California State University and community college students

• Requires state reimbursement to community college districts for any costs determined by the Commission on State Mandates to result from this mandate
